ABOUT THE PARRAMATTA BRANCH OF THE AMATEUR BEEKEEPERS’ ASSOCIATION The Parramatta Amateur Beekeepers meets in the Agriculture Classroom of James Ruse Agriculture High School at Carlingford. The entrance is off Baker Street. The club meets on the second Wednesday of each month (excepting January) at 7:30 pm. The meeting format involve a short formal business meeting then an information session followed by tea/coffee and an informal social gathering. Information sessions alternate between presentations from experts from industry or academia and activities using the resources of club members. |

Over recent years the club has gained new members and so now a membership ranging from very experienced to novice beekeepers. The club aims to improve the skills and knowledge of all its members irrespective of their level of expertise. The club charges no fees and operates its own apiary in conjunction with the school. It has a shop where the common requirements for beekeeping can be purchased. New members are encouraged to keep their first hive in the apiary with the club hives. Field days are held on the Sunday following the meeting to allow members to improve their practical skills. The club participates in both the Castle Hill and the St Ives Shows and members are encourages to enter honey in the show competitions and also to sell surplus honey at the club stall.

Membership of the club allows access to the Amateur Beekeepers Association ABA) Insurance system and the ABA news letter. The club produces a news letter before each meeting. Should you be interested in joining this club please contact the Secretary Dave Wilson on drwilson@tpg.com.au |
